My bit of string snapped last time I lowered the keel.

Had to take the cover off and retrive the wire strop.

Do you pass the string through the D ring at the front of the mast base or go straight up to the spreader..

If you go through the D ring does it ever snag on the strop ??

If you go straight up do your jib sheets catch it when tacking ??

Hi Paul,

The indicator line from the lifting strop should go straight up to the spreaders and not through the D ring on the mast. The top section of the line is elasticated and should be replaced each year to mainatin the pull on the line.

If you take it through the D ring the direction of pull through the deck plate will be wrong and the strop will jam.

With regards to tacking the jib, I suggest you use one continuous jib sheet and just loop it the the eye of the sail to reduce the possibility of catching. I have found it works ok almost all the time.

Re: Continuous Jib Sheet.

Great idea.

What is the best method of attaching it?

Hi John,

Find the middle of the continuous sheet, form a loop and pass it through the sail. Pass the free ends through the loop and pull it tight.

Hope this helps.
