Has anyone fitted their spare/dinghy outboard on to the stern rail? If so how and where did you put bracket?
I am assuming that the starboard side would be preferable as this will help counter the list to port that most 235s' seem to have.

Brian,

I am in the proccess of "designing" and attaching an o/b bracket to the starboard pushpit for my Honda 2hp. Most "commercial" brackets seem to attach to a single vertical tube and sometimes a horizontal one as well. The 235 pushpit is rather basic and appears not very suitable for brackets such as these (as you have no doubt found)especially as it also has to accommodate an inflatable lifebuoy. I plan to attach a suitable wooden block to the aft vertical and the horizontal tubes by use of s/s saddle fittings. Hopefully, this will hold the bracket firmly (the 2 fittings preventing movement both vertically snd horizontally). If the scheme is successful I will post some pics (providing I find how to do this?!).

I am in the process of drilling a 1" hole in the centre of a block of wood that I will then cut in half and bolt over the top rail. Seemed better value than £49!

Many thanks for your response. I look forward to seeing any pics if scheme is a success.

Thanks, I also envisage making a bracket to suit rail at some stage.

I have now completed the o/b bracket - pics below should be self explanatory. I had the wood and the 1 inch s/s brackets so it only cost me for some s/s screws and nuts - a lot better than £49!

Looks good. If my wife every finds out I bought one rather than making something like this up I'm in the dog house! (I never paid 49 quid for it though, more like 20.)

Chris,

Many thanks, bracket looks good. I must now try to make something similar.

I also note that you have fitted your flag staff to top of boarding ladder. What sort of bracket did you use?

Brian,

We got the flagstaff socket at a local chandlers Seamark Nunn. Details of the "Chromed Brass Pushpit/Rail Flag Socket" are on their website at www.seamarknunn.com/Prod...ockId=_3730&Category=315

The socket cost about £13. We only put it on the ladder as this was the only free bit of horizontal tubing in a half suitable place but is far from ideal - one thing being as the socket is low down and our staff is only short the flag is not very visible! I have seen a socket that goes on a vertical tube in the Force 4 Chandlery catalogue at about £20 but have not actually seen one "in the flesh".

Chris,

Thanks.

I do have a bracket but this would require drilling holes in transom which I am reluctant to do. I may end up doing something similar to your installation.
