Stripping down a Lewmar winch

I am trying to service the winches on our Super Seal. They are Lewmar 30 winches, self taiing, black lacquered aluminium, there doesn't seem to be any circlip or retaining device.

There wasn't a manual with the boat documents.

Any advice on how to remove the top ?

Tap the self-tailing lip CAREFULLY in an anti-clockwise direction with a mallet and wooden drift. Take it easy - Lewmar are out of spares.
