Description:

HW Saturday 17:24

A reminder that on 13/14 July we have our rally to Timbrells Quay, at the top of the Beaulieu River. It’s a rustic quay, capped with a grassy area which was in fine fettle when we looked the other day, covered in daisies. The quay is not open to the public and landing there not permitted, but once a year Lord Montague himself makes an exception for us. The quay dries out and is best approached within 2 hours of high water, preferably on a rising tide. There will be drinks and nibbles from around 18.00, and when you’ve had your fill or we’ve run out, we eat on the grass, diy barbecue or just a picnic.

Some boats arrive in the river on Friday evening and make it to the quay on the Saturday morning tide to get the whole day there. There are plenty of visitors moorings available this year, unfortunately rafting up on moorings is not allowed, or you can anchor at the bottom of the river. We are told that several of the last moorings at the top of the river are for visitors. If anybody cares to join us, we hope to be there on Friday evening, after unhalfbricking the bottom beside the quay as usual.

We hope to see you there. Please let us know if you are intending to come any way you like, phone, email or through the website.

The PSSA is the class association for Parker and Seal lift keel yachts and other types of shallow draft yachts.
As an active, friendly club with almost 350 members, it organises rallies, social events and an annual race around the Isle of Wight.
Seals and Parkers are British-built yachts, ranging in length from 21' to 33', mostly with lifting keels. They started with the Seal 22 in 1970, built by John Baker, and followed by the Seal 28 and Super Seal 26. In 1981, Bill Parker took over the range and added the Parker 21, Parker 27 and Parker 31. These then evolved into a high-quality range of cruiser-racers built by Parker Lift-Keel Yachts - the trailable Parker 235, the Parker 285 and the Parker 335. In 2009, Parker Lift-Keel yachts ceased trading.
