This year's AGM will be held in the Cardiff Bay Yacht Club on Sunday 5th Feb 2017 at 11:00

Cardiff Bay LogoCardiff Bay

We hope you'll make a weekend of it as there's plenty to see and do in Cardiff Bay, the vibrant waterfront area of Cardiff.

Programme

Friday 3rd Feb

7.15pm La Bohème, Welsh National Opera, Millenium Centre, £26

Saturday 4th Feb

12.30 Meet at Lookout Café, World of Boats

Afternoon activities

7.30pm Meal in a restaurant in Mermaid Quay (around £15 main course)

Sunday 5th Feb

10:30 Coffee at Cardiff Bay Yacht Club

11:00 Annual General Meeting

12:30 Buffet Lunch (£9.95)

Suggested activities for Saturday afternoon

Walk or Cycle the Cardiff Bay Trail, and boat trip

Walk across the Barrage, taking in the Age of Coal and Captain Scott exhibitions, then either hop on a boat trip up the Taf and back to Mermaid Quay, or continue on round the trail for the full 10km. Or just take a boat trip from Mermaid Quay.

Visit the Pierhead, Senedd and Norwegian Church

All within a short walk of each other, the Pierhead is a historic building with Welsh history exhibitions, the Senedd is a striking modern building, and the Norwegian Church an arts centre with a Roald Dahl exhibition. Free.

Cardiff International White Water

Go across to the other side of the bay and try White Water Rafting or Indoor Surfing. Prices from £25, better in a group.

The Doctor Who Experience

Housed in a specially constructed facility in Cardiff Bay's Porth Teigr - a stone's throw from the BBC studios where Doctor Who is filmed - the Doctor Who Experience offers a unique, exciting and sometimes scary journey into over fifty years of adventures in space and time. The Doctor Who Experience gives visitors the opportunity to get even closer to the iconic TV show and to star in their very own Doctor Who adventure! Cost £16 adult, slightly cheaper in advance

Where to stay

Rates are for B&B as at 1 Nov but rates and availability may well vary.

Travelodge: 15 min walk, £68 - suggested

Holiday Inn Express: 10 min walk, Fri £65, Sat £125

Ibis: 20 min walk, £65

Premier Inn: 30 min walk, £63

Cardiff Bay Yacht Club

Note: the Yacht Club is not within walking distance of the hotels as it's the other side of the bay. So if you're coming by train, please let me know so that I can arrange a lift to/from the club.

Parking

There's free parking at most of the hotels, and short term parking on many of the roads. The most convenient long term parking is the Pierhead St multi-storey, behind the Millennium Centre: £4/day at weekends, more on weekdays.

There's free parking at the Yacht Club.

The AGM's in a couple of weeks and I need to confirm numbers for the catering, so if you're planning to come but haven't yet let me know, please do so ASAP!

Thanks.

Geoff
