I fitted a Raymarine ST1000+. I mounted it on the cockpit coaming, port side. I can confirm that it needed the 5-inch push-rod extension, D007. You'll also need a pedestal socket but the length depends on whether you have the extended rudder stock or not. My boat doesn't, so I needed (I think) the shortest pedestal (about 1.5 inches).
I found that my boat was missing the reiforcement under the port coaming, so I had to epoxy in a piece of plywood (which involves wriggling into the cockpit locker).
The pedestal fitting is slightly too big in diameter to fit on the top of the coaming for a neat finish. I made some little fillets for it from black acetal plastic, which was the trickiest part of the job!
