My cabin floor / sole is chipped and scratched so I plan to fill , sand re-varnish. Has anyone done this before ? If so what did they use and how was the result ?

I re-varnished the cabin sole on my 235 with Blackfriars exterior varnish
I sanded it down well to start and put a second coat on last winter
Looks good and seems to be very durable

A tardy response to the original post – apologies.
For what it is worth, I used carpet tiles. Cheap, quick and easy to lay, (used spray on adhesive), non-slip, water resistant, worn well, and still looks good after 5+ years.

On the 26 we don't have a smart (but slippery) varnished floor, just a rough cast iron one!
The carpet tiles are in my mind a great solution, smart, easy to clean, cheap and very non-stick even if wet!
