Hello
Can anyone tell me what their prop shaft diameter & taper is on their 275 or 285.
I have a 285 fitted with a Yanmar 3YM 20 and am thinking of buying a Kiwi or other feathering prop.
The boat is still in the water at the moment.
Thanks for any help.

Hello Royce
Beware of assuming diameters and tapers whilst the boat is in the water. I did this only to find when we lifted Blue Moon, the propshaft had a step aft of the cutlass bearing and reduced from 30mm to 25mm, not all bad as it enabled Darglow to use a smaller boss on the featherstream prop I was buying, hence saving money.Prop and service from Darglow were excellent ,only problem experienced was running into things for a while with the new prop as the boat did not slow in neutral as it used to with the fixed prop. Emphasises how much drag there is in a fixed prop.

Hi Royce,
I have a Parker 285 HS Blythe Spirit with a Kiwi Feathering prop.
It's great!
I have my engine and prop serviced by John Cutler at Thornham Marina Emsworth.
John is a Yanmar main dealer and service agent for Kiwi props.
He is a very helpful guy! I've known him for over 30 years.
Give him a buzz or send an email.
Kind regards
David

I fitted a flexofold prop when I got VELA - 275 no 40 and it was a 1" 1:12 2 blade hub and a 14x09 R Blade set. The original engine for which I bought the prop for was a Yanmar 1GM10 but I have since replaced it with a Yanmar 2YM15 and the prop works fine with plenty of power ahead and astern. Flexofold props are all metal and beatifully machined. X-Yachts use them so that was good enough for me!

Dark Star has a 1GM10 engine driving a Brunton Autoprop through a 1" shaft with a 1:12 taper - but as advised earlier; don't assume your shaft will be the same, check the measurements.
