Hi all

Does anyone know where I can get a Bukh alternator refurbed or buy another? Guy did the electrics for me and said the alternator is no good. Though I am not sure he wired it up right!

I was also wondering if there was any mileage in the idea of fitting a different modern alternator?

Cheers

Justin

I have the standard Marechal 38 A alternator. With the help of a small solar panel, it keeps my batteries well charged. Some time ago, I did have a battery disconnect accident and the alternator stopped working. A local repairer fixed it and it's been fine ever since. The premises are unfortunately empty, now. I am a bit more careful with the battery switch, too. If your alternator is not working, though, check the ignition light on the engine control board is ok and has +12 v on one side and is properly connected to alternator terminal 61 on the other side before you spend any money! There is only one other important wire and that is from alternator B+ to the starter motor +12 v terminal.

Thank you Neil. I'll check the wiring connections and see if it is still a problem. The guy who did it assured me he knew what he was doing but I doubted it. Like a red and a yellow wire connected to the same terminal!
I have a 60w solar panel which is pretty good in summer.

Thank you. Does anyone know where I can find a wiring connection diagram?
