The outhaul consists of a metal wire connected to the clew of the mainsail. In the boom there is a small free floating double block. A rope somewhere starts at the goose neck, runs through the double block once (!) and comes out of the boom and it is tied to a clam on the mast.
I can’t find where the rope starts at the goose neck end. Ivdid find a lot of ‘spagnum’, so in the past some animal must have made a nest in the boom.
Is it original that only half of the double block is used as the rope makes a single pass? I want to replace this rope.
