The outhaul of the mailsail consists of a metal wire connected to the clew of the mainsail. In the boom there is a small free floating double block. A rope is somewhere attached in the boom near the goose neck and runs through the double block (once !) and comes out of the boom at the gooseneck and it is tied to a cleat on the mast.

I can’t find where the rope starts at the gooseneck end. I did find a lot of ‘spagnum’, so in the past some animal must have made a nest in the boom.

Is it original that only half of the double block is used as the rope makes a single pass? I want to replace this rope.
